Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness

Since we are often reminded that the Declaration of Independence has no legal weight in US law, at least in regard to the duty to overthrow tyrannical government, does that mean that all those words about “all men are created equal” and “endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights” are also meaningless and insignificant.

Seems to me you shouldn’t be able to pick and choose.
